Chienoir evokes the landscape of the vineyard nestled at the foot of the South Downs where the sheltered vines grow happily in chalky soil littered with prehistoric sea fossils. Imagine walking through vibrant green vines treading the downland terroir and inhaling the salty woodland air. Neroli, sweet orange, bergamot, juniper berries and pink peppercorns create an aromatic open space on a deep earthy base of patchouli, oakmoss, opoponax, tobacco, wood and musk. Each of the sixty bottles in the first limited edition batch has a unique label hand marbled using the ancient Japanese art of Suminagashi, is presented in a handmade silk bag and comes with a print of an original Amanda Beadle watercolour of the Vineyard.

Amanda Beadle founded Bedeaux in 2017 based in rural West Sussex in the English countryside. She does everything from the initial creative brief, formulating and making the perfume and all aspects of managing the business.  She uses both naturals and aroma molecules to make small batches of handmade artisan perfume. Working in collaboration with local businesses Amanda creates bespoke perfumes for sale through the Bedeaux website and her associates’ outlets. Her inaugural perfume Chienoir, commissioned by Black Dog Hill Vineyard, was launched in December 2017.
