Barrister and Mann began as a men's grooming house with a focus on fragrance, but has begun to produce fine perfumes in addition to its shaving soaps and aftershaves. The house seeks to challenge its audience and prides itself on the fact that its work is regarded as divisive and often highly controversial.

Helmed by the mother/son team of Paula and Will Carius, Barrister and Mann perfumes often incorporate literary, musical, and/or gothic themes, and the house is known for using highly unusual materials in many of its compositions. Art is paramount, and Barrister and Mann does not believe in compromise.
